“Auguste Anastasi was a student of Paul Delaroche and Jean-Baptiste Corot3. He entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris on May 5, 1849 and made his debut at the 1843 Salon. He won a 2nd class medal at the 1848 Salon for a landscape, and a 3rd class medal at the 1865 Salon for a lithograph. He painted landscapes of the Paris area, Normandy, Holland and Italy, Rome and especially Naples, but also the Tyrol, where he also made lithographs.

Auguste Anastasi collaborated as a lithographer with the magazines L’Artiste and Les Artistes contemporains. He lithographed works based on Rosa Bonheur, Jean-Baptiste Corot, Isabey and Théodore Rousseau.

Having been blind since 1860, he stopped painting after 1870. His colleagues then organized a lottery, the profits of which were converted into an annuity; after his death, this annuity was awarded to an indigent artist designated by the Academy of Fine Arts.”
