“This very detailed work represents a morning scene in the park of Villeneuve-l’Étang, located just outside Paris, in the western suburbs of Marnes-la-Coquette (Seine-et-Oise), in France. The artist chose a quiet section of the park with an east-facing view. The greenery suggests that the work was painted outdoors during the months of July or August, and possibly finished some time later in Biva’s Parisian studio.

This skillfully controlled artistic work presents a dominant palette of green, mixed by the artist to form various tones, values and hues, contrasted only by the transparent light of the morning sky, partially visible through the delicate foliage and bouncing on the surface of the shallow waters.”
